After several heartbreaks and set-backs, 33-year-old Lolly Blanchard discovers a list of life goals written by her teenage self and begins wondering about the what-ifs from her past, especially her former love, Rory. When her great-aunt gifts her three magical lemon drops that are said to let her live a day in her life if she had chosen her what-ifs, Lolly gets to see what her life would've looked like if she had made different choices. Going back doesn't always reveal a better life for Lolly, and she begins to realize the importance of living in the moment instead of chasing the past. With several jumps between potential lives, this story feels a bit like a mix of What Alice Forgot and A Christmas Story, with similar sweet and heartwarming life-lessons that are seeming to become hallmarks of Linden novels. The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie depicts the importance of letting go of what isn't working and following one's heart, and is a strong recommendation for readers of Katherine Center and Rebecca Serle.
